Details:
The customer wished to increase stiffness, reduce weight, and maintain current FR rating of a PP electrical storage unit.

The customer completed a 40% reduction in halogen-based loadings by the addition of 5% Nanomer® nanoclay to the formulation. This allowed for considerably higher stiffness and a 20% decrease in SPG. The customer was also able to maintain a V-O rating. Finally, improved stiffness led to unit down-gauging, providing a considerable cost savings.
Advantages:

Lower FR additive levels, allowing for lighter parts. And significant cost savings as well.

Customer Completion:

 Able to complete a direct reduction in halogen loading levels without any process changes.
