Abstract: Nanomer nanoclays are formed by sorption of ester and ether monomers, making the nanoclays capable of exfoliating in resin matrices. The monomer increases nanoclay interlayer spacing to 30-45Å. The nanoclays can be exfoliated in polar organic solvents to form a viscous compositions for use as plasticizers in thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers.  This patent also contain methods for manufacturing a nanocomposite using the nanoclays.
