Abstract: Nanomer concentrates are formed by combining at least 10% by weight of a nanoclay, at least 0.5% by weight maleic anhydride-modified polyolefin and the balance a matrix polymer polyolefin. A process for producing Nanomer concentrates wherein the Nanomer is uniformly dispersed throughout the matrix polymer polyolefin. The Nanomer concentrates are capable of fully combining with additional matrix polyolefin such that the nanoclay is uniformly dispersed throughout the polyolefin to form a nanocomposite. The patent further claims a process for combining Nanomer concentrates with matrix polyolefins to form said nanocomposite.
